Seeds of Hope

The food supply in Zimbabwe is very fragile and securing enough to eat is a daily struggle for many. Food grown in household gardens is crucial to sustaining life for most Zimbabweans. The soil and weather around Nyadire is conducive to agriculture and makes the Seeds of Hope program so important to this community.

At the end of each growing season in the USA, The Nyadire Connection gathers unused vegetable seeds from many generous donor sources:  individuals, retailers, and even a major national seed corporation. Travelers to Nyadire carry the donated seeds in their suitcases for distribution to families in and around Nyadire who truly depend upon their home gardens for food. The donated seeds are used for the Home of Hope Orphanage by the children living at the Home of Hope orphanage where the children learn to grow food that will help to sustain them throughout their lives.

Thousands of packets of donated vegetable seeds have been carried to Zimbabwe and the “fruits” of the seeds are readily visible in and around Nyadire. The Seeds of Hope program needs your help in contacting businesses for donation of their unsold seeds from last summer. Your assistance is also appreciated in making financial donations to The Nyadire Connection to help cover the costs of transporting the seeds. Contact Jim Howell.
