July-August 2006
In the summer of
2006, a team of eighteen Pittsburghers traveled to
Nyadire to work for three
weeks. People on the team focused in one of three areas: 1) Vacation Bible
School and the Home of Hope Orphanage, 2) medical and pastoral work at the
hospital, and 3) construction - dividing a two large rooms into smaller dorm
rooms.
After getting stuck in Pittsburgh, sleeping on the floor in Newark, flying over 10,000 miles, and having the airlines lose every single checked bag (all 58 of them), the team arrived in the capital of Harare, Zimbabwe, intact but exhausted.
The next few days were a whirlwind: meeting everyone at Nyadire, touring the facilities, and getting started on our projects.
